My itouchless 13 gallon trashcan died and since the replacement top cost around 60 w/ shipping, I opted to purchase this set via Costco for under 60 w/ tax. An added bonus is the free one yr. warranty extension buy using Costco’s AMEX card. Thus far both work perfectly except as others mentioned (and the same occurred w/ my itouchless) IF you get too close to the sensor the lid will open. I have not had any issue w/ either lid failing to close. I really like the plastic liner in the small one and wished the large one had that same feature as it certainly makes cleaning up leaky bags much easier. Another advantage is the battery placement is in the base vs. the lid (itouchless) which helps to weight in if kids or dogs are running by it and it won’t fall over. If either starts having issues I will update my review.

Being ever so careful of germs and bacteria, I love this item, have it in 3 sizes and bought some for gifts. Worth every penny.

I got this for my mom for her countertop compost container. It’s great b/c it opens with out her having to touch it with messy hands. It is very sensitive and it is attractive to keep on the countertop.

This infrared trash can worked great until the warranty expired. Then the small gear broke off the lid rendering the entire thing worthless! They claim it’s made of ABS plastic and “…will not break…” LIES; it broke during normal operation! C’mon Nine Stars, the lid is very light, this should not have broken!!
This is an innovative but poorly engineered product and the best they could offer was to sell me a new lid for $35 + shipping. You’ve gotta be kidding! The batteries lasted longer than the lid!! Nine Stars will not see another dime of my hard earned money!

42 liters is NOT EQUAL to 13 gallons. Do the math. 1 liter = 0.264172051 gallons. 42 liters x 0.264172051 = 11 gallons. The manufacturer (NineStar) sells both a 13 gallon and a 11 gallon model. The reseller (Postal Bay) knows this, but is advertising the 13 gallon model and delivering the 11 gallon (42 Liter) model.
